Our story

Welcome to Bubi

I started Bubi because I could not find what I was looking for.

My son had sensitive skin and I spent months searching for baby clothes that were genuinely gentle — no harsh chemicals, no synthetic dyes, nothing that would irritate him. Everything I found was either too expensive to justify, fell apart after a few washes, or both.

So I decided to make it myself.

Bubi is a small family business based in Melbourne. Every print is designed by my husband. Every fabric was chosen after testing over 20 different suppliers until we found one that met our standards. The result is baby clothes that are soft enough for the most sensitive skin and durable enough to survive the Australian washing machine — and still look brand new.

We are not a big brand. We are parents who built something we are genuinely proud of, for families like ours.

Thank you for being here. Every order means the world to us.

Australian Designed Baby Clothes

Organic Cotton

What touches your baby's skin matters more than most people realise.

Conventional baby clothing is often made with synthetic dyes and chemical finishes that can irritate delicate skin. Organic cotton is different — grown without harmful pesticides, processed without harsh chemicals, and naturally soft against newborn skin from day one.

Every Bubi organic cotton piece is made from 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex — soft, stretchy and free from anything that should not be near your baby. It holds its shape and colour through wash after wash. No fading, no pilling, no going thin. Just reliable, trustworthy fabric your baby will live in.

Bby clothes Australia sustainable

Sustainability

We believe the best thing a baby brand can do for the planet is make clothes that last.

Fast fashion creates waste. Clothes that pill, fade or fall apart after a season end up in landfill — and parents have to start again. That is not good for anyone.

Bubi is built differently. We use organic cotton and bamboo because they are natural, renewable fibres that are kinder to the environment than synthetics. We pack every order in recyclable materials. And we design every piece to last long enough to hand down to the next baby — because the most sustainable thing a baby garment can do is keep being worn.

Comfort First

A happy baby is a comfortable baby. It sounds simple but it shapes every decision we make.

Our fabrics are chosen for softness first — organic cotton and bamboo that feel gentle against newborn skin and do not irritate. Our designs are stretchy enough to move with your baby whether they are sleeping, crawling or wriggling through a nappy change. No scratchy seams. No stiff fabric. No labels that dig in.

Because when your baby is comfortable, everyone sleeps better.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Bubi unique?

Bubi started because I could not find baby clothes gentle enough for my son's sensitive skin that also lasted more than a few washes. Most baby clothes feel amazing in the shop and look worn out after three cycles. Ours do not.

Every piece is made from organic cotton or bamboo — no harsh chemicals, no synthetic dyes, no irritants. The prints are designed by my husband here in Melbourne. You will not find them anywhere else. And the fabric holds its shape and softness wash after wash, which means it lasts long enough to hand down to the next baby.

That is what makes Bubi different. Not just what we say — what you will actually notice every time you wash it.

Why shop from us?

Because we are a small Australian family business that genuinely cares about what goes into every piece we make.

We use organic cotton and bamboo because they are the safest, softest fabrics for baby skin — not because it is a trend. We ship fast from Melbourne. We pack orders in recyclable materials. And if something is not right, we will sort it out — no runaround, no complicated process.

When you buy from Bubi you are buying from the person who made it, not a faceless warehouse.

Where do you ship?

We ship Australia-wide, to New Zealand, Canada and the US.

What is your return policy?

We want you to love your Bubi order. If something is not right, here is how returns work:

You have 14 days from the date of purchase to return any item. Items must be unworn, unwashed and in their original packaging with tags attached. Proof of purchase is required.

To start a return simply email us at hello@bubiau.com and we will take care of the rest.

What fabrics do you use?

We use two fabrics across our range — organic cotton and bamboo.

Our organic cotton pieces are made from 95% organic cotton and 5% spandex, giving them a soft stretch that moves with your baby all day. Our bamboo pieces are made from bamboo fabric which is naturally hypoallergenic and temperature-regulating — ideal for Australian summers and babies with sensitive skin.

All fabrics are free from harmful chemicals, synthetic dyes and irritants.

Are your baby clothes safe for newborns?

Yes. All Bubi pieces are made from organic cotton or bamboo — no harsh chemicals, no synthetic dyes, no irritants. They are gentle enough for newborn skin from day one and suitable for babies with sensitive skin or eczema.

Do your baby clothes pill after washing?

No — and this was one of the main reasons I started Bubi. I was frustrated by bamboo and cotton baby clothes that pilled after just a few washes. We tested over 20 fabric suppliers before finding one that holds its softness and texture wash after wash. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle and tumble dry low — that is all it needs.

How do I know what size to buy for my baby?

Check our size guide — it lists both Australian sizing and measurements in centimetres and kilograms so you can find the right fit without guessing. If your baby is between sizes, size up. Our fabrics have a gentle stretch so slightly larger fits comfortably without being baggy.

Are your designs unisex?

Yes — all of our prints were designed with unisex wear in mind. They work beautifully as baby boy clothes or baby girl clothes and are perfect for hand-me-downs or gifts when you do not know the gender yet. We tag some colours under boys or girls to make searching easier but every design works for any baby.

Do you have organic baby onesies with zips?

Yes. Our organic cotton zip onesies have a two-way zip that opens from the bottom for easy nappy changes without fully undressing your baby. They also have a zip guard at the neck to protect baby's skin and fold-over cuffs on both hands and feet for scratch protection and a little extra length as your baby grows.

Do you sell baby sleeping bags?

Yes. We have two baby sleeping bags — one in organic cotton and one in bamboo fabric. Both feature a two-way zip for easy nappy changes at night without removing your baby from the bag. A wearable sleeping bag removes the need for loose blankets in the cot, which Red Nose Australia recommends avoiding for safe sleep.

How fast will my order arrive?

Most Australian orders arrive within 2-5 business days via Australia Post Standard Parcel Post. Express shipping is available at checkout for $15 if you need it sooner. We aim to process and dispatch all orders within 1-2 business days from our Melbourne warehouse.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

Yes — Bubi makes a beautiful gift for a baby shower, new sibling or first birthday. Select gift wrapping at checkout. We also offer gift cards from $50 to $300 if you want to let the parents choose exactly what they need.

Are your baby clothes Australian made?

Bubi is an Australian-owned and Melbourne-designed brand. Our prints are created by my husband here in Melbourne and every design decision is made in Australia. Our garments are manufactured in China by a supplier we spent a long time vetting — one that meets our quality standards and produces fabric that genuinely holds up. We are transparent about this because we believe honesty builds trust.
